Rebelstar Tactical Command

Urban Warfare into Outer Space
If there is one game that both tactics fans and casual gamers can enjoy, that game is Rebelstar Tactical Command. Rebelstar is a turned based shooter with a story that doesn't take itself too seriously. In Campaign mode, you start out as a small group of rebels. Early on each character has a specialty, whether its close combat, heavy weaponry or sniping. For the first half of Rebelstar, the rebels will be pre-deployed on the map. For the second half players will have the option of selecting weapons for each rebel and placing them on the battlefield, adding more strategy since it does take planning to make the mission a success. Rebelstar is also fun to play, walls can be blasted away with explosives, ambushes will catch both enemies and players by surprise, Snipers can swipe unsuspecting enemies. Characters can be set to Overwatch mode, here they will stand guard until an enemy gets close enough to be blasted. Actions such as moving and shooting take up action points. Whether there are enough action points to shoot and move depends on the grid which is color coded according to options availble if moved there. Rebelstar does have some flaws, missions take time to load, the game slows down during enemy turns and menus are confusing. Of course all your Rebels wear the same uniform, it would be nice to have a little icon or their name above their heads, since you don't know who is who until you select them with the cursor. It just feels the game could use some minor tweaking to make it easier to get into. Other modes include a Skirmish mode where battle situations can be created and multiplayer for those who are interested.
