The GameBoy Advance is getting games from all different genres and a tactics game now joins the party. Tactics Ogre is a turn based tactics game where you must not only use the terrain, but your attack position effectively. Attack an enemey head on and they will attack back, get them from behind and they can't retaliate. The terrain elevation plays a huge role in staging your battle. Stand on higher ground to attack the enemey below and they can't reach you. An Archer's range is drastically effected by the elevation of the terrain. If the archer must shoot up, it can't shoot far, but if the archer is at a high point it can snipe just about anything below. A lot of strategy comes from customizing your character alone. If you give your party member the heaviest sword and suit them up in a knight's armor, it will limit their movement in battle. There are so many character classes, from quick ninjas to archangels who don't need to take the stairs. It is possible to negotiate with your enemies and make them join your party. You can also hire characters to join you in towns. This game has so much depth, theres even an extra mode from the story where you can battle to gain special items to help you in your quest. This game is a must have for strategy fans.
